Crash protection

Frame sliders, engine case covers, axle and tank sliders — the parts you buy hoping never to use. Most track organizations require case covers before they'll let you grid up.

How to choose

The short answer

Case covers first — a holed engine case ends the day and oils the racing line. Sliders second. GB Racing and R&G covers carry race-organization approvals; Woodcraft, T-Rex, and Shogun cover the budget end. A full-bike package runs $250–500 — cheaper than any single OEM fairing.

Before you buy. None. Some frame sliders require fairing cuts — check the install notes against your bodywork before ordering.

By bike

Crash Protection by model

What each bike's page says about crash protection: the brands that fit, the year splits and the gotchas, quoted from the 39 bike pages that have a note on it.

Honda CBR600RR

GB Racing covers, T-Rex or Shogun sliders on a budget. The engine covers matter double on a bike this common in race paddocks — used engines are cheap, but oil-downs get you sent home.

Kawasaki ZX-6R

GB Racing engine covers are the trackday-org benchmark; T-Rex and Shogun cover the budget end. Street bikes want frame sliders and swingarm spools at minimum.

Suzuki GSX-R600

GB Racing case covers are the track-org staple; T-Rex and Shogun cover budget street sliders. Verify the year split — K8 kits do not fit L1 bikes.

Aprilia RSV4

V4 cases and that swingarm are expensive — case covers, frame and axle sliders are step-one money. Coverage is good across GB Racing, R&G and the Italian billet houses.

BMW M1000RR

Non-negotiable on a bike this expensive to repair: GB Racing case covers, frame and axle sliders, lever guard. Kits are shared with the K67 S1000RR in places — verify per part, not per bike.

BMW S1000RR

GB Racing covers are the track-org benchmark; R&G and T-Rex cover street duty. Slider kits are generation-specific because the K67 Flex Frame uses different mounting — verify fitment for your exact year.

Ducati Panigale V4

Case covers are near-mandatory for track use. Frame sliders on faired Ducatis are genuinely debated; wing protectors and axle sliders are cheap by comparison. CNC Racing and GB Racing-pattern covers dominate.

Honda CBR1000RR

GB Racing covers are the track-org standard; T-Rex and Shogun serve the budget end. SC59, SC77, and SC82 each need their own kits.

Kawasaki ZX-10R

GB Racing engine covers are effectively mandatory for track orgs; R&G and Woodcraft cover sliders. The RR's pricier bits make protection even more rational there.

Suzuki GSX-R1000

GB Racing covers, R&G or Woodcraft sliders. Verify base vs R fitment where kits touch the lower fairing area.

Suzuki GSX-R750

GB Racing case covers and frame sliders sized for the 750's wider cases on some years — verify fitment for your exact year rather than assuming 600 kits cross.

Yamaha R1

GB Racing engine covers are effectively mandatory for race orgs and cheap insurance for track days. R&G and Woodcraft cover sliders and mounts.

Aprilia RS 660

Case covers are mandatory at most track orgs — GB Racing and Woodcraft list the 660. Spears Racing and other Twins Cup vendors carry model-specific sliders, guards and spools.

Ducati Panigale V2

Engine case covers (GB Racing-style long-fiber nylon or CNC Racing billet) are the priority. Frame sliders on faired bikes are a genuine debate — they can save or crack bodywork depending on the crash.

Honda CBR500R

Vortex V3 2.0 sliders list 2013–2016; Puig R19 sliders list 2016–2018 and 2019–2026. GB Racing lists secondary covers for 2019–2026 (engine, clutch and alternator) and separate 2013–2018 sets.

Honda CBR650R

Puig R19 frame sliders: 2019–2023 and 2024–2026 are separate kits. Womet-Tech frame sliders list the CBR650R, CB650R, CBR650F and CB650F. GB Racing's CBR650R covers start at 2021. On E-Clutch bikes the actuator is inside the right-hand engine cover, so confirm that side's cover lists E-Clutch bikes.

Kawasaki Ninja 650

Kawasaki sells a Frame Slider Set (99994-0797) and a Protection Package (99974-0062). GB Racing lists XL bullet frame sliders and secondary engine covers for the Z650 and Ninja 650 2017–26; R&G lists a steel radiator guard and front axle sliders for 2017–24.

Suzuki GSX-8R

Woodcraft, TST, Womet-Tech, Puig and GB Racing all list 8S/8R protection: Woodcraft frame and axle sliders and cover protectors (2023–2024), TST frame sliders (8S 2023 and 8R 2024 listed separately) and water-pump cover protector, Womet-Tech fork sliders, GB Racing covers (8R 2024–2026) and Puig R19 sliders (8R 2023–2024).

Suzuki SV650

Case covers are required by most race orgs and smart for track days — R&G and Woodcraft list SV fitments. The V-twin's protruding covers make this a higher priority than on inline-fours.

Triumph Daytona 660

Puig R19 frame sliders (2024–25), R&G Aero frame sliders (2024+), GB Racing engine covers (2024–26, clutch and pulse covers shared with the Trident 660), Evotech spindle bobbins and caliper guards (2024+) and R&G axle sliders all list the Daytona 660.

Yamaha R7

GB Racing's CP2 engine covers are the race-org standard and shared across the MT-07 family. Add frame sliders or race rails and a lever guard for grid work.

Yamaha R9

Yamaha sells frame sliders (BKN-F11D0-T0-00). GB Racing lists Bullet Race sliders and secondary engine covers for 2025–26, R&G lists Aero and Apex slider kits, and Evotech lists a race radiator guard.

Aprilia Tuono 660

GB Racing and Woodcraft case covers list the 660 engine; add frame sliders and bar-end weights — naked bikes drop onto bars and cases. Womet-Tech and R&G cover the budget-to-mid ladder.

Ducati Monster

Frame sliders, case covers, axle sliders — the standard naked package, $250–450 typical street price. R&G and Evotech cover the 937 well; CNC Racing for billet-matching versions.

Ducati Streetfighter V4

Higher priority than on the Panigale: no fairings, expensive wings, wide bars. Frame sliders, engine case covers, axle sliders, and bar ends are the standard package — $400–600 typical street price all-in.

Honda CB500F

Puig lists engine guards and R19 frame sliders for the CB500F 2013–2024, and Vortex sliders CB500F/X 2013–2016. GB Racing lists CBR500R covers for 2013–2018 and 2019–2026 but none we found for the CB500F, so confirm before ordering.

Honda CB650R

R&G and Puig sliders, GB Racing and R&G case covers. The exposed header array makes lower protection worth more here than on faired bikes. E-Clutch bikes need E-Clutch-specific clutch-side covers.

Kawasaki Z900

Frame sliders are near-universal on this bike, and for good reason at its weight. R&G, Evotech and Woodcraft have complete fitments including case covers.

Suzuki GSX-8S

Woodcraft frame and axle sliders and cover protectors (2023–2024), TST frame sliders (8S 2023) and water-pump cover protector, Womet-Tech fork sliders and bar ends, GB Racing covers and swingarm spools (2023–2026) and Puig R19 and Pro 2.0 frame sliders (2023) all list the 8S. Puig also lists an engine spoiler for the 8S 2023–2024.

Triumph Street Triple 765

Frame sliders, GB Racing case covers, radiator guard, bar-end weights. The exposed radiator and wide bars are the two things that hit first — cover both.

Triumph Trident 660

R&G Aero and Puig Vintage 2.0 frame sliders and Hepco & Becker crash bars list 2021+. GB Racing's engine covers list 2021–26, and their clutch and pulse covers are shared with the Tiger Sport 660 and Daytona 660. Evotech lists crash bobbins, spindle bobbins and a radiator guard for 2026+ and the Triple Tribute Edition.

Yamaha MT-07

R&G, Shogun and GB Racing cover sliders and case protection. On a naked bike this is cheap insurance with no bodywork in the way — no excuse to skip it.

Honda Grom

T-Rex Racing cages and sliders are the Grom staples, with case protection for race grids. Gen-specific — a JC75 cage does not bolt to a JC92.

KTM 390 Duke

Crash bungs, axle sliders, and a rectifier-area check (gen 1) are the priorities. R&G and Evotech cover the model; budget brands are serviceable here given the bike's price class.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

Woodcraft under-bodywork sliders, Puig R19, Shogun no-cut sliders, Vortex V3 2.0 and Hotbodies frame sliders all list 2013–2017; Shogun's bar sliders list Ninja 250/300 2008–2017. GB Racing lists EX300 covers for 2014–2017 (stator cover 2014–2015), so verify a 2013 before ordering.

Kawasaki Ninja 400 & Ninja 500

Case covers and sliders are cheap for this bike and the class crashes often — GB Racing, Woodcraft, T-Rex all have kits. This is the highest-value protection spend in the catalog relative to bike price.

Kawasaki Z400

GB Racing's Ninja 400/Z400 page lists secondary engine covers and bullet frame sliders (the titles name the Ninja 400 and 500), TST lists fork sliders for the Ninja 400, Z400 and Ninja 500, and Kawasaki sells 8 mm spools (012BOY0013).

Yamaha MT-03

GB Racing lists R3/MT-03 engine covers (2015–22 and 2023–26), TST lists MT-03 2020+ case protectors and Puig lists Pro frame sliders for the MT-03 (2016+). Confirm slider kits name the MT-03, not only the R3.

Yamaha R3

T-Rex and Shogun are the budget-friendly staples on lightweights; GB Racing covers the race-org requirement. Spools for stands while you're at it.

Also in the upgrade order for: Yamaha R6, Kawasaki Z650, Yamaha MT-09.
